So Indiana University wants me to pay out-of-state tuition because my current address is in Michigan. Er, I’ve lived here for 8 months, what about the rest of my life where I’ve lived in Indiana and paid a shit ton of taxes and also my permanent address is in Indiana, where my parents live. Oh hey, I’m still a dependent on my parents who are residents of Indiana, assholes.
I mean I’ve only been here 2 days, but I can barely contain my excitement for this fall. It’s too bad I have to leave on Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, Ann Arbor has my heart too, but in a different way. Bloomington’s only missing one thing though: bubble tea! I think there are more bubble tea places on South U than Starbucks in Ann Arbor. Bloomington already has awesome book stores, comic book stores, a sweet folk punk community, an awesome public library, local grocers, my favourite people (besides Eva, but don’t worry, I’m trying to convince here to transfer here after next year), and our house is pretty much is located in the best location possible, but I’ve only found one place for bubble tea so far (and they only one flavour of milk tea which is my fav). I actually really regret not volunteering at 826Michigan in Ann Arbor, but I think I’m gonna try and be more involved this year on campus and just in general. Being a hermit besides work and school is just not stimulating enough for me (even though I try to persuade myself I’m fine with it).
- Drove to Grand Rapids for a Snowing/Algernon Cadwallader show, Grand Rapids was…askew at first, but then was better. The Electric Cheetah is an awesome place to eat. Our friends had two tiny kittens there and one was the perfect cat, the other one attacked Tyler’s chest at night and bit my head while I was sleeping.
- We slept in a camper on Tyler’s lake and it was sweaty and gross, but we got to hang out at the lake when we woke up. Swans almost attacked me because I threw bread balls at their heads and butts. Oh well, I hate swans.
- It turns out we’re driving to Bloomington by ourselves. My friend whose apartment we’re staying at had her car break down in Chicago and can’t go with us tomorrow. We get to hang out in her apartment for a couple of days by ourselves.
- Twin Peaks got fucking awesome/weird/strange. I can’t wait to get my Twin Peaks buttons in the mail.
