this month has been v cool. I got to:

I found a huge box full of yummy Asian candies when I was cleaning. I should clean more often.

Agh, fuq the internet right now. I’m crabby from drinking coffee and need to start packing up my whole apartment because we move in a month and that’s not really a lot of time. I already know we’ll still be scrambling to get shit in order the day we move.

It doesn’t help that I work in a place where the music is blaring all the time.

I think I’m in love with Bloomington, IN.

I mean I’ve only been here 2 days, but I can barely contain my excitement for this fall. It’s too bad I have to leave on Sunday. Don’t get me wrong, Ann Arbor has my heart too, but in a different way. Bloomington’s only missing one thing though: bubble tea! I think there are more bubble tea places on South U than Starbucks in Ann Arbor. Bloomington already has awesome book stores, comic book stores, a sweet folk punk community, an awesome public library, local grocers, my favourite people (besides Eva, but don’t worry, I’m trying to convince here to transfer here after next year), and our house is pretty much is located in the best location possible, but I’ve only found one place for bubble tea so far (and they only one flavour of milk tea which is my fav). I actually really regret not volunteering at 826Michigan in Ann Arbor, but I think I’m gonna try and be more involved this year on campus and just in general. Being a hermit besides work and school is just not stimulating enough for me (even though I try to persuade myself I’m fine with it).

  • I found out some person(s) stole my credit card number and have been trying to make purchases throughout the US. Good thing I’m broke as hell all the time so all of the transactions were declined because of insufficient funds.
  • I started my period today after an ungodly amount of time PMSing.
  • I burned the fuck out of the seitan and veggies while trying to make some curry at midnight :( Also burned my tongue because I was too impatient.
  • I just chugged too much milk and it’s hot as fuck in this apartment.

I’ve seen better nights.

So I am extremely giddy today because I received news that EVERYTHING I had submitted to my school’s literary/art publication, The Huron River Review, last January got accepted! Yeah, okay, it’s just some community college publication, even though they boast about how The Huron River Review has won a whole bunch of awards, including being awarded the Gold Crown by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, but it’s still nice to be published in some way or form.
Also, it’s super nice out today. Well, it’s only 50 something degrees, but the sun is really nice. It’s been dark spring gloom in the past weeks.
I have about a month’s worth of work to do this weekend:
2 literary analytic papers on short stories (3-6 pages each)
a film project which includes: viewing a film, taking notes on it while viewing it and summarizing it in a paper; summarizing a whole book; and summarizing an online article
taking notes (1 page per chapter) on a horror film book, Nightmares in Red, White, and Blue
studying for an existentialism final (I just got the questions for it and I feel like we’ve never talked about 1/2 of the content the questions address) I really should have signed that waiver to get a C on my final instead of taking it :(
editing a story to submit to Zoetrope magazine and writing a query letter
writing a short screenplay because my idiot partner can’t do anything himself
I think I might suffocate myself in all this work before I can even enjoy seeing my published work in the Huron River Review, but ugh, I am totally looking forward to next weekend and fuckin’ Ann Arbor summers free of those hoards of students waiting to walk in front of my car whenever I drive!

Finished product of my horror film project. It looks kinda shitty, but I put a lot of work into it. I sewed her night gown, made all of those bed posts and painted her face. Also, I dyed her hair. It was supposed to turn out black, but it turned the coolest shade of purple. Also, it’s supposed to be Reagan from The Exorcist, if you can’t tell :(
You have no idea how much sleep I lost last night because I spent all night staring at fucking creepy ass close ups of Reagan’s face when it’s all scabbed and gross. So glad this project is over.
picture of my mother when she was roughly my age, maybe a bit older.
This is an email my dad sent me this morning. It’s oddly professional sounding, but he still signs it “Daddy”. I don’t know, but I laugh at that picture of the dog bringing in the paper. My father hates pets, but he signs all of his emails with this picture.
And as a side note, I don’t even know why they sent my driver’s license. The check I wrote the BMV bounced because I’m stupid and never write checks so forgot to leave enough money in my old bank account for the check. Oops.
We spent the last couple of weeks of last summer helping my best friend paint her dining room set. My chair is the one with the black and white seat. We all helped on the table. I wish you could see the leaves on the table because on one there’s a naked dude and on the other Eva painted a naked girl.

A couple thangs:

  • For some reason, I feel accomplished that I rode the city bus with no troubles today. It was my first time! At least in Ann Arbor. The first and only time I rode the bus in South Bend was a big fiasco.
  • There’s this Indian man in my film class who looks exactly like my father from behind. His build, hair, clothes, everything looks like my pops from the back. I was a bit creeped out.
  • Stealing internet from the public high school means Tumblr is blocked during school hours because it’s an “online community”. Anyone know of proxys I can use to override it?
  • I’m being a creep and looking at people’s iTunes libararies who live in our building and silently judging them on their music tastes. This guy Kevin? He has a lot of Dane Cook, Eminem, and Lady GaGa. Best not make friends with him.

Yeah, life in a new city. It kinda rules, but I have nothing to do half the time.
